Lavenham Good Neighbour Scheme and Dementia Alliance

LAVENHAM GOOD NEIGHBOUR SCHEME AND LAVENHAM DEMENTIA ALLIANCE

Although these remain two separate organisations, they now jointly host their monthly Afternoon Tea and Coffee Mornings in the Jubilee Room at Tenter Piece for local members of the community.

These are held on the first and second Thursday of the month. See below for the latest calendar of events. Anyone interested is welcome to come along and join us for coffee and cake and a chat.

Lavenham Good Neighbour Scheme

The Scheme launched in 2014 and has been operating successfully ever since, for those in the village who need some help with Shopping, Befriending, Form Filling, Small Household Tasks and Lifts to Doctor or Hospital, Dental or Optician appointments.

In this time we have completed many requests from our local residents needing help.

We have been able to provide this, by Grants and Donations, but mainly by all the volunteers from the village who have given their time to help others. For this we thank them all so much, we could not do it without them.

Lavenham Dementia Alliance

The Lavenham Dementia Alliance was setup at the beginning of 2018 to run in conjunction with the successful Lavenham Good Neighbour Scheme. The group's aims are to make the community and businesses of Lavenham Dementia friendly, by raising awareness throughout the village.

This was initially achieved by holding awareness sessions with local businesses and in the community. We can still provide training for local shops and businesses, to enable people to find out more about Dementia, helping to make Lavenham a Dementia Friendly village for residents and visitors alike. Members of the volunteer team are also Dementia Champions.

We also signpost and act as a point of contact for carers and the cared for, and along with the Good Neighbour group hold regular Afternoon Tea and Coffee mornings to help people socialise with others.  We also organise fundraising events to ensure these activities can continue.
